I Knew You

I knew you, I knew you so well. You became my closest friend where no body tried. I knew you and I loved you deeply. Is it time? You held me, stoked fires of ghostly warmth, and became my closest friend in the dark. But. You don't serve me anymore. I knew you so well I couldn't leave you alone, no one gets me like you, no one loves me like you. We grew together where their crumbs landed out of greed and pleasure. Attached at the hip we grew. In the shadows, in space, in the depths. But. You don't serve me. Your love as precious and golden, is just a shell of a dream. A fantasy I held in my mind. And I love you but, you don't serve me. Your love was real, but shallow, tied to an idea that never really materialized. I knew you once, and I am not ready to, but I must ... let you go. You don't serve me.
